I know you’ve likely felt the frustration of pothole-ridden roads and overgrown verges. But, I’m pleased to share that road repair and maintenance work for this year has officially begun, bringing relief to approximately 2,500 residents across five communities within the division.

This latest round of repairs builds on the foundation we've laid over the past two terms. To date, we’ve completed the construction of 13 new roads, a milestone I do not take lightly. It’s a national track record built on action; and the work continues as the 14th will be transformed from being a dirt track to asphalt soon.

Ongoing Work in Blue Mountain and Beyond

The team is currently on the ground and has completed a stretch of road in Blue Mountain, working from the Blue Mountain Square toward Kotch Up. A stretch in Bashy was also recently done. This is a continuation of a project started last year, which faced delays due to a temporary shortfall in resources. We’re now back on track, extending patching efforts through to Top Coffee Grove.

I know many would prefer full resurfacing rather than patchwork repairs, and frankly, so would I. But in the spirit of transparency, I want to assure you: we are doing the best with what we have access to, focusing not only on road surfaces but also on bushing and routine maintenance to ensure long-term accessibility and safety.

Support and Funding that Moves Us Forward

Of the five roads, two are supported by His Worship, the Mayor of Mandeville and MP Candidate, Donovan Mitchell. Just under $7 million was allocated for this initiative. We are hoping that the next allocation which is scheduled for next month will be on time so we can complete the next set of roads in June.

This month, in addition to Blue Mountain and Top Coffee Grove, road work is also being carried out in:

  • Providence

  • Morgan Close, Clarke’s Town

  • Bottom Coffee Grove

As always, I remain committed to delivering real results. Your voices fuel this work, and I’m grateful to serve a community that keeps me focused, accountable, and inspired.
